Overview

For my first freelance UI design job, I collaborated with Tulasi Files Company to create high fidelity UI designs for their website and social media marketing. As a subsidiary of Tulasi Group, Tulasi Filing Systems has been a leading manufacturer of eco-friendly office stationery including files, folders, and paper bags since 2002, catering to the needs of physical database management. My work focused on enhancing their digital presence with visually cohesive and user-friendly designs.

Timeline

August 2024 - December 2024

Background

Tulasi Files’ website struggles to convey its eco-friendly mission in a visually compelling way. While the brand emphasizes sustainability, its online presence lacks the aesthetic and emotional connection needed to reinforce this message. The product presentation is functional but uninspiring, missing an opportunity to immerse users in the brand’s environmental values. Without strong visual storytelling, the website fails to differentiate Tulasi Files from conventional stationery brands, making it harder to engage eco-conscious consumers.

Research

To inform the design of Cobra Clip Files, I conducted semi-structured interviews with a diverse group of users who frequently interact with physical and digital document management systems. The goal was to understand their needs, pain points, and behaviors related to organizing, retrieving, and securing important files.

Bright Points ✅

Users Appreciate Visually Distinct Designs

Users enjoy nature-inspired imagery that makes files easier to spot and more engaging to use.

Sustainability Adds Meaning to Organization

Eco-friendly materials make users feel good about their purchase and align with their values.

Pattern and Color Aid in Quick Identification

Users naturally group files by color, texture, or imagery, making retrieval intuitive.

Pain Points ❌

Poor Display of Files on Site

The current presentation does not showcase the design intention, making the files appear generic.

Labeling Can Be Outdated

Users prefer visual cues like colors and patterns over small text labels.

Brand Message is Lost

There is little visual or textual emphasis on sustainability, weakening the brand’s identity.

From Pain Points to Possibilities

❌ → ✅

The current presentation lacks a clear visual narrative and immersive environment, causing the files to feel generic and blend together. Without strong visual cues or emphasis on sustainability, the thoughtful design elements and eco-conscious values are lost. Traditional small-text labeling further reduces impact and makes organization less intuitive, weakening the brand’s identity and diminishing the uniqueness of the products.

Before

My Solution

Seeing that the files lacked any storytelling and immersive visuals I decided to create a narrative revolving around their sustainability aspect and integrate nature in the picture.
