Overview

Ponder is an app idea that I'm currently pursuing. Have you ever wished you could keep a scrapbook that lasts forever? Write notes to yourself in the future to look back on? Keep track of your finances, goals, and habits? But most of all, do all of the above but have it personally curated for you? Well that's what Ponder's here for.

Problem

How can we create a personalized and engaging journaling experience that supports mental, emotional, and financial well-being?

Many individuals struggle to find a journaling method that fits their needs, often cycling through different formats before finding one that works. This trial-and-error process can be frustrating, time-consuming, and discouraging.

Notion

  • Highly customizable with databases, templates, and embedded multimedia.

  • Versatile for note-taking, journaling, project management, and task tracking.

  • Collaborative features allow sharing and team use.

  • Overwhelming for new users due to its steep learning curve.

  • Manual customization, making it time-consuming to set up.

  • Lacks built-in emotional insights or guided journaling features.

  • No dedicated password-protected personal journaling space for privacy.

Notion

One Day

  • Designed specifically for journaling with a clean, distraction-free interface.

  • Offers end-to-end encryption for privacy.

  • Supports location tagging, photos, and voice notes for multimedia journaling.

One Day

  • Limited planner and organization tools, making it less functional

    for life planning.

  • Lacks personalized inspirational content tailored to user emotions.

  • No financial tracking features, restricting its use for broader

    self-improvement.

Bright Points

Pain Points

Research

To better understand the landscape of digital journaling and planning, I analyzed two major competitors: Notion and Day One. By identifying their strengths and pain points, I gained insights into how my app can offer a more personalized and seamless experience.

By understanding these competitor limitations, my app aims to bridge the gap between journaling, life planning, and personal finance while offering a personalized and intuitive experience.

I've selected these rough color schemes for Ponder, allowing users to choose from four preliminary options: Lotus, Mist, Sunset, and Beach. These palettes help set the app's mood and personalization options. Additionally, I'm exploring different typefaces to complement the design, but nothing is finalized yet as I'm still refining the visual direction.

Wireframing

I created wireframes for the core screens of my app, Ponder, laying the foundation for its layout and user flow. These are still in the planning stages, and I’m actively iterating and refining the design as I continue to ideate on its development.

Low Fidelity

Below are my drafts for the Cobra Clip Files, presented in sketch form, followed by wireframes that illustrate the design concepts in greater detail. I created them using the research of other existing campaigns and product design.

I used my brand book to draft a visual representation of how the site wireframes might look, incorporating key elements like typography and color schemes for consistency. However, this is still an early draft, and I’m actively researching and ideating how I want the UI to take shape.
