Duration:

August 2024 - Present

For my first freelance UI design job, I collaborated with Tulasi Files Company to create high fidelity UI designs for their website and social media marketing. As a subsidiary of Tulasi Group, Tulasi Filing Systems has been a leading manufacturer of eco-friendly office stationery including files, folders, and paper bags since 2002, catering to the needs of physical database management. My work focused on enhancing their digital presence with visually cohesive and user-friendly designs.

My Approach

When educating myself on their brand, I wanted to focus on their environmentally sustainable aspect. It’s not only a unique and important part of their company but also essential to their brand message. I aimed to create a fresh concept that could be reflected in each design. For the Cobra Clip Files, I incorporated nature elements to emphasize each type of file and create a distinct visual identity.

For the Priority Files, I went for a sleek, more modern approach. I’m currently working on revisions to better align it with their brand message, but it was a valuable learning experience. I also had the opportunity to experiment with creating another version of the slider using Smart Animate.

Identifying & Resolving Challenges

Some unique challenged I found were utilizing the smart animate feature effectively. Because the smart animate feature works by automatically interpolating changes in position, opacity, size, and other properties of layers. I originally thought it used artificial intelligence to create seamless transitions, however, I learned that It relies on mathematical interpolation and layer matching algorithms rather than artificial intelligence. It probed me to work in trial and error and adhere to it's specific mechanics. However, I know have a greater understanding for it's features.

Conclusion

Although I’m still revising these designs, I’ve learned so much about Figma and have become very comfortable with its features. I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of brand image and messaging, ensuring consistency across designs. This is something I’m actively working on implementing. Most importantly, I learned how to collaborate effectively and conduct market research to identify what is visually engaging and what isn’t.
